I have been playing with 3-d printed devices for a few years and finally reached the point were I have something good. I want to get some beta testers to help me refine the design and raise some money to get molds made. The goal would be to have novelty chastity devices widely available for in a $2-$5 price range, which would help spread this reverent worshipful lifestyle.

That looks very nice and hopefully effective. I like the idea of a device that would work without having to have your balls locked and constantly hurting. I would be interested in testing.

As you can see I'm in the UK have been involved in chastity for a number of years and currently have a CB2K, CB3K, CB6Ks, Bon4 and a Birdlock (which is my favourite - although of course I don't get to choose !)

Thanks for the offers to help test and refine the device. For those of you who ordered it from the shapeways store, please note that the lotus petals (spikes) will ship a bit stiff and should be bent forward, also the holes for the locking rod might need to be cleaned out with a bent paperclip. The final injection molded product will not have these problems.

Note: To beta test just order some of the models from shapeways and give feedback, I prefer that feedback be limited for forums like this, please do not comment at shapeways (they are just not ready).

So let me be clear here. In order for volunteers to test your product, that you hope to make money from, the volunteers should pay you about $60 to buy from you the products for testing? Well, it's certainly an interesting approach to market research. Good luck with that as a business model.

Yes, I was a little surprised about paying $60 to be a beta tester also. Now I have a choice to make:

1. Pay $60 for this item AND spend my time and effort to review it so it can be perfected and then mass produced.
2. Wait until others pay $60 to buy and review it so it can be perfected and mass produced and then pay $3-$5 for it when it comes on the market.

Well, why only send $60? Clearly the nice thing to do would be to more, thus assisting this purely altruistic project. "Ass backwards"? No, I think the word you want is 'con' or 'rip-off'. Hopefully, the majority of readers here will not be taken in by this.

"rip-off"? how much was the first CB-2000, or the crappy first Birdlock? They sold supposedly finished products and used user feedback to make them better. No refunds were offered or free upgrades given.

This is an in-development product and I am stating as much up front. I have been playing with 3-d printed devices for years and have been asked to make prototypes available, these are the first ones which were good enough to share.

This also is the only KTB device out there which is both very difficult to remove and useable for longer lock up periods.

DP47905 it is not "back asswards", 3-d printing is around 10 times more expensive than injection molding. Cb-x.com charges $70 for an injection molded cage, their mark-up must be considerable higher than mine.

The goal here is to get enough feedback for a final model and enough cash for a small run. I am not going to invest cash I don't have here. This is a hobby which maybe can pay for itself and maybe give some people a fun new toy.

Lighten up people, help if you want and get a unique and fun toy in return. Save the accusation of war profiteering for Raytheon.

The locking locking pin goes thought the holes, the slot in the locking pin can take either a plastic numbered lock or the locking tab which allows the use of a small padlock. The pin can be placed in the holes form either direction, so you either have a dangling (and decorative) lock right under your head or you have a discretely hidden lock nestled near your scrotum.

As for size there is about 3/4" play in circumference depending on which holes you line up for the locking pin. I would guess that the thinnest 20% would not be secure and the thickest 20% would not be comfortable, but I have no data to go on. I need feedback from more penises.

You are right. It isn't. It is a con to ask for testers of a product, and then charge them 10 times more than the price that you are intending (so you say) to market the finished product at. It is normal business practise to provide free samplesof your product to potential users, and then utilize their feedback to improve your offering. If you had ANY faith in your product, you would recruit testers to try it for free, You are trying to use the 'promise' of a better product to sell your existing lines.

Nor did they ask for any testers. They offered a product, and people were free to buy it or not - they did not solicit free market research.

No, the goal is for you to run a profitable business. NOTHING wrong with that at all, but at least have the guts to be upfront about it.

Why not? Do you not have faith in the product? If you have no start up capital, approach a commercial lender with a business plan.

The fact of the matter is, shapeway is a business which allows users to model items, upload them and have them 3-D printed (also called rapid prototyping) and shipped for a cost. Users can add some sort of markup if they wish to sell a design. Given the cost of 3d printing, which I am familiar with, I don't think Kalicouple is trying to rip anyone off. 3d printing is one of the most expensive ways to manufacture an item. In a typical beta testing scheme, the product is given for free to testers. It may not be fiscally possible for the OP to finance that kind of thing, and I'm not here to ask questions. What I know is that good ideas should be tested and developed. The design Kalicouple has given us is unique and has potential. Whether it should be called a beta test or a prototype, I think I'd be willing to spend a little cash to help bring a new device onto the market. We all know how small the range of options is, and I think we'd all like to see more and more options and types popping up. Or maybe I'm a dreamer.. =) I'd like to develop one of my own sometime as well

I would really like to have a try on device of this type (been working on my own designs for ages) But... In order to spend app. 60 usd cash, I would really like to see a real product rather than 3d rendering. Its just me being paranoid...

All in all I see that market is lacking a spiked device, which would probably solve many bulging issues etc.

Any possibilities in getting a picture of a real device, more preferrably in use, kalicouple?

I agree with Gary, a couple of photos of the device in use shown on a real penis not 3-D would really help, it shouldn't be so hard, after all kalicouple must have tried their own product.
If it's so expensive to produce how are you gonna be able to produce and sell it later for only a fraction?

The final product could be in polystyrene which is the same material as disposable plastic forks. Depending on the cost of the production run the price varies wildly. The first molded piece would cost a few thousand, mainly for the mold after that the marginal cost for additional pieces would be a few cents.

Sorry for the machine gun posts, but I wanted to mention that I modified the model to include three locking pins and three locking tabs.

Not to be argumentative, but actually cb-x did request beta testers from the community (back in '99 the largest community was on Altairboy), supply them with free customized product, and work thru several test versions before the -2000 was injection molded and brought to market. As I recall we were in development with testers for about 6 months. Nice folks to work with. I still have one of my prototypes, as it's one of the most comfortable devices I've ever worn. I'm sure you can still find the initial request for testers and lots of public feedback on Altairboy (but you'll have to go back more than a decade).

I did not know that and stand corrected. I however will not be doing that this prototype is fairly well developed but details like spike length and pointedness and final diameter are still a bit flexible.

I don't want to sound like a dick, but this prototype is MUCH slicker thank most finished products. The only thing up for feedback are minor items such as mean circumference, two sizes or three, and spike length. If you are within 30% of average I think what I have for sale would work well as is.

If there is desire for this type of device and if the prototype sale generates enough cash there will be an injection molded version. Those are two big 'ifs'.

In about two weeks we will see if people are enjoying this.

In response to private message requests regarding price I have updated the pricing and have added extra pins. Shapeways will credit the pay-pall or CC of existent orders, but will not ship additional pins (the models are already in production).

The pins are designed to take both the locking tab and numbered zip ties. With zip ties the device can be worn as a trapped ball device. This configuration would offer more security for shorter wearers, unfortunately this configuration also causes excessive wear to the pin (I tore 1 pin after 3 weeks of wear).

I will offer additional pins and metal pins within a few days.

so now you only want us to pay you 37 bucks to beta test yo product.

Yep, Timeupsalso, he's a real genrous benefactor isn't he? Still, he has manged to get people to pay out on this scam, so hats off to his selling skills. (and used this free site for all his marketing expenses!)
